Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-09-20
This policy explains what information The Study Abroad Compass ("we", "us") collects when you use this website and its tools, and how it's used.
Information our tools collect
Interactive tools like the country comparison calculator run entirely in your browser. The priority weights, raw data, and results you enter are not transmitted to our servers or stored by us — they exist only in your browser's memory for that session and disappear when you close or reload the page. This same principle will apply to future tools, including the loan risk simulator once it launches.
Mentor-call waitlist
If you choose to register your interest in our planned mentor calls, you do so through a Google Form. It asks for your email address and a few short questions — your first name, the topic you'd like advice on, the country you're interested in, and what you'd consider a fair price for a 20-minute call. Providing this is entirely voluntary, and by submitting the form you agree that we may email you about the launch of these calls. We also use your answers to understand which topics, countries and prices matter to prospective students. We do not sell this information or share it with universities, education agents, or lenders. Your responses are stored by Google on our behalf and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We keep them only as long as we need them for these purposes, and you can ask us to delete your response at any time via our contact page.
Automatically collected data
Like most websites, our server and any analytics or advertising services we use may automatically log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, which sections of a page you engage with, and time spent on the site. This is used in aggregate to understand traffic and improve the site — it is not linked to your name or used to identify you personally.
Cookies and advertising
This site may display advertising served by Google AdSense and its advertising partners. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or generally at aboutads.info/choices.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site, including which sections of a page get the most attention and how long visitors spend on them. This relies on cookies and similar technologies to collect usage statistics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you'd prefer not to be tracked this way, though some site features may not work as intended.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for prospective university-level (typically 18+) students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, under GDPR or CCPA). Apart from anything you choose to submit through the mentor-call waitlist above, we do not maintain user accounts or store the data you enter into our tools, so there is typically little to nothing tied to you individually. If you want to access, correct, or delete your waitlist response — or have any other request — contact us and we'll respond.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, including as new tools launch. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision.
